Die IG Metall ist eine basisdemokratische Organisation. Die Willensbildung geht von den Mitgliedern aus. Alle vier Jahren wird auf der örtlichen Ebene die so genannte Delegiertenversammlung, das Parlament der IG Metall vor Ort, neu gewählt.
Das regionale Parlament der IG Metall Duisburg-Dinslaken besteht aus 168 Delegierten aus 42 Betrieben der Region. Diese tagen vierteljährlich und vertreten die Interessen von rund 32.000 Mitglieder im Parlament. Sie treffen Entscheidungen und diskutiert bzw. beraten über die Arbeit, Ausrichtung und Politik der IG Metall in der Region.
Die Delegiertenversammlung ist das höchste beschlussfassende Gremium auf regionaler Ebene und kontrolliert somit auch die Arbeit des Ortsvorstandes der IG Metall Duisburg-Dinslaken.
